Poppy in 1983, the first live poodle Betty had ever met. She was
already 2yrs old & she fell in love with her antics & personality,
hook, line & sinker & has never wavered from the breed since.

she was dumped as a puppy. They all got on great together & were loving & loyal to
each other as well as us.

A little information about us; our breeding philosophy and PRA etc.
We have been breeding toy poodles exclusively since 1986, under the prefix "Ztoy".
Our goal was to produce beautiful, very healthy, top quality toy poodles, free from
all genetic disorders, having exceptional temperaments & conformation, with mag-
nificent coarse easy care coats, making less knotting and easier grooming. We have
stayed 100% dedicated to this, "our quest" over the past 24 years. Ztoy Poodles are
well known in Australia & abroad for not only their pretty faces, but all of the above
qualities. Our dogs are selectively bred, our litters carefully planned from only gen-
etically sound, top quality dogs.

We have tested all necessary dogs for prcd-PRA (progressive rod-cone degenera-
tion form of Progressive Retinal Atrophy) it is by far the most frequently identified
cause of PRA in Toy Poodles.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
((PRA is a cluster of related heritable diseases that generally cause irreversible blind-
ness in affected dogs. Genetically Normal/Clear dogs can be bred to dogs that are
carriers or affected and will produce no pups affected with the prcd form of PRA.))
For the other less frequent form of PRA (and as yet unidentified form of PRA) the
breeding dogs are clinically tested annually from four to seven yrs old. At seven yrs
they are said to be "lifetime clear". (Our specialist ophthalmologist told us that PRA
can be clinically detected from 4 to 5 years of age.)

We are one of the foundation breeders of red toys in NSW and bred mainly apricot
toys since 1986, so we can truly say we specialize in red and apricot toy poodles.
We have also bred black & brown, but to a lesser degree.

What to expect when you purchase a Ztoy Poodle Puppy??????
We like to make sure all the pups immediate needs will be met & it will feel safe and
secure in it's transition from our home to yours so there will be little or no anxiety to
the puppy.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We advise you what you will need for your new puppy, by giving you a comprehensive
shopping list, which explains why you need each item, where to buy it and how much
~
you should expect to pay for it. We send photos to show you how to set up your new
~
puppies home. Most people become very excited about becoming new owners of a pup
and race out buying fancy collars, leads, pretty beds, loads of toys, (puppy milk and
~~
treats loaded with chemicals, which we advise them to toss in the garbage). Many of
~
these items are never used and people overlook the most important items. They
~~~~~
spend weeks researching what breed they will buy and put no thought into the immed-
iate needs of the puppy when it comes home to live. It is a tiny baby, normally around
one kilo & should NOT be placed on the floor as it's first vaccination does not fully

Our puppies are lovingly reared inside our home with great importance given to
their health & developing personalities.
protect it from contracting parvo virus, also the puppy could be accidentally kicked or
trod on, not to mention once the toilet scent is on the floor it makes toilet training 10

times harder. The puppy should not be put away in the bathroom or laundry etc.,

where it will be broken hearted because it will miss it's littermates & humans hovering
~
around about their business. Consideration should also be given when other cats or
~~
dogs live in the home. There is a normal degree of jealousy & it takes 3 days to 2
~~~
weeks for them to accept the new puppy. If these animals are old, or in mourning then
you most certainly would not put a new puppy in their face, no matter how loving and
gentle they are. We educate our owners on all aspects of raising the puppy (incl'g all the
above) by giving you written information which we go over verbally with you before
you
you buy the pup to try to ensure you
have a healthy, loving well behaved puppy that will
grow into everything you desire in your future adult dog. We are very happy to give you
ongoing support. We encourage feedback
from our owners to see how our dogs develop
as adults.
In fact we believe a responsible owner
always keeps contact with their breeder!
When you pick up your puppy aged eight weeks, it will be;
very healthy & will have a great temperament. It will be wormed, vaccinated, micro-
chipped, thoroughly vet checked, paper toilet trained, easily lead trained, (we show
you how). It will be beautifully groomed & easy to groom. (We like to prepare our
"Antionette Elizabeth" fast asleep whilst being patiently groomed at
4 weeks. Tiny feet as small as a fingernail.
puppies for the lifetime of grooming they have to endure), so when possible we
like to patiently bath & groom our pups between 4 to 5 weeks old. We then groom
them again before their trip to the vet & again before they go to their new home.
Our sold puppies & dogs rarely ever fight and struggle to be groomed, in fact they

We never try to sell someone what they don't want.
We are always honest, because above all, our pride is

* What is the time span for waiting for a Ztoy puppy?
*** The waiting timespan could be anytime up to 4 to 6 months.
* How do I go about ordering a Ztoy puppy?
*** It is great when people have done their research & know exactly what they
want. eg; colour, sex, weight fully grown etc. Also researched the breeders by
ringing their vets etc & decided whom they would trust to buy the new family
member from. If you have chosen Ztoy Poodles, we simple ask you to keep in
touch. We do not chase you up. If we don't hear from you, we simple assume

Answers to some commonly asked questions;
* Should I buy a Dogs NSW Main register or a Dogs NSW Limited register
puppy??
You should carefully consider the future use of your puppy before
purchasing. The
breeder has the right to choose when selling, if they want their
puppy
to be bred
from, shown or sold as pet only.

* Dogs NSW Main Register??
Buying your puppy on the main register gives you the right to be
able to show &/or
breed from your dog. Is there someone in your family that mentioned
they would
like to show or maybe have a litter "one day" from your prospective
new puppy?
If so, then this is the way to go, keep your options open.

* Dogs NSW Limited Register??
Buying a puppy on this register means you are buying your puppy as
a pet only.
What does buying a puppy "as a pet only" mean ?? It means you are buying the
puppy to love, not to breed or show as you have not bought the breeders bloodlines.
If you tell the breeder you would like your puppy as a pet & you will desex it, you
cannot change your mind later & decide you'd like to breed as you
are legally bound
to desex it, whether it is a verbal agreement or a written contract.

Should You Spay or Neuter Your Puppy??
It's good for them, and it's good for you, too. Spaying and neutering
is the responsible
thing to do for your pets' health and well being, but it also makes
them better compan-
ions. But perhaps most important, sterilization is essential to
prevent the births of thous-
ands of animals who compete with other animals for homes because
there aren't enough
homes for them all.
* In Australia Poodles come in 3 sizes ONLY!!!
We are often asked about tea cup poodles?? Toy poodles that weigh
under 1.5kg
or 3lb when fully grown are EXTREMELY RARE in Australia.
We always tell people, "if you want an extremely tiny poodle,
then by an ad-
ult. That is the only way you will be sure how big the dog will grow"
. As far as size
goes, we go by height to the shoulder & weight. Most of our girls
are around 2.5 to
3.5 kg & under 11". Unless grossely overweight a 5kg toy is a big
one.

The size & weight your puppy will eventually grow too, depends on
the thousands
of genes behind the parents. A breeder needs to be familiar with
and know thorou-
ghly the generations behind their dogs. It is all up to the honesty
of the breeder. We
have got it wrong a couple of times ourselves. We say, if you don't
like the parents
or their size: don't buy the pup!!!~~~

*Is the temperament different in the different colours??
***Absolutely not, the temperament is partly genetic & alot depends
on the rearing
of the puppy from birth. A poodle that is hypo, yappy & snappy has
bad tempera-
ment. In our experience poodles do not have a nasty bone in their
bodies, it depen-
ds on the human factor. We highly recommend you take your puppy to
puppy pre-
school or obedience training; mainly for your own personal education.

Parti or multi coloured poodles are not an accepted colour in the
Australian Nation-
al Kennel Council and are not purposely bred by Registered Breeders
in Australia.
* Would the lighter coloured dogs be more susceptible to skin cancer??
***They should not be laying around in the sun for many hours, which
we
would advise as a NO NO, no matter what the colour.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
* Are there any health problems I should be aware of
with the breed or size?
***There are many genetic faults in poodles, as with other breeds &
crossbreeds.
It depends on the effort the breeder has put in to erradicate them
from their lines.
We do everything possible & make every consideration so that
the puppies we br-
eed have no health problems. We warn
people of possible problems that can arise,
due to incorrect diet. Of course they can get just about anything we
can get. The
diet is MOST IMPORTANT!!!! Some of the breeding lines in our puppies,

* Ztoy Poodles do not wheel & deal with their dogs.
If you buy our puppy on the main register;
we do not place any restrictions.
If we give you a stud service;
we take a fee. We place NO restrictions on your
future litter. We do not make agreements to have half of your litter or
pick of
your litter. There's nothing worse than someone taking your
favourite puppy
or half of your litter after you have lovingly nurtured them for
8 weeks, not to
mention all your hard work.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

We do not share farm our female dogs or puppies;
This means; give you a
dog or puppy & in return you agree to give back X amount of litters
before
the dog becomes yours & you are given the registration papers.
Raising pup-
pies is hard work & you end up paying more than money, this is a
very exp-
ensive way to buy a dog.

If you buy a Ztoy Puppy
it is bred & raised by Ztoy Poodles only.
Ztoy puppies are not sold through pyramid selling; where an agent or per-
son buys the puppy for someone else (your parents are an exception),
only
to sell them later at a higher price or for the puppy to end up in
a pet shop
or in another country, etc etc.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Do not bother to attempt to buy a Ztoy Poodle if you do not intend
your puppy to
live inside with the family and to be raised as part of the family.

Do not bother to attempt to buy a Ztoy Poodle if you intend to cross
breed or breed
to pet poodles.
Our pet puppies are sold with a desexing contract.~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Do not bother to attempt to buy a Main Register Ztoy Poodle if you
do not have, or
intend to have a high standard of breeding. We are very careful
where our puppies
go, especially after making mistakes in the past.
We are always more than happy to
help new breeders get started for the well being and future of our
beautiful breed.
